we took fawn trail but continued on to marker 13 to loop back. first half of hike was shady, last half had the veiws.
rangers were informative, learned about "cowboy toilet paper"
this trail was pleasant though lots of poison oak. theres a fork in the trail where you can choose to walk across a quaint little dam wall, or you can go down into the gorge and do a little climb back up. interesting to check out the CCC buildings along the way. there's also a suprise picnic area with a great view from a large boulder.
I like this trail for slow casual walks in the west texas forest. Nice pond called Buffalo Wallow to stop and enjoy. This trail was a great way to introduce my Trailblazers group (4th - 6th graders) to the local flora and fauna.
