The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Trail is located at Dugout Wells, which is an oasis in the middle of the desert. You can get there by car via an unimproved road (4 wheel drive is not required).

The nature trail winds through a cactus garden and offers numerous informational signs explaining how life survives in the arid climate, the different types of plants and animals that live in the desert, etc.

Since it is not far from the paved road, it is worth a quick visit.
