Comments:

You cannot get to the Pine Canyon Trail unless you have a vehicle with high clearance and, preferably, four-wheel drive.

The hike is pretty much up the first 2 miles, then down on the return.  The hike up is a small incline, but it's a little challenging since the trail is loose gravel that makes it hard to walk in.

As you work your way up the trail, the foliage changes dramatically from desert to forest.  The trail ends in a forest like area at the base of a cliff in the canyon.  During wet seasons, you may see water running down the pouroff.  When I hiked the trail, there was no water.

There are many interesting rock formations along the way.  You will see everything from cactus, sage, and yucca plants to pine trees and other leaf bearing trees.

Very nice hike in one of the greener areas of the park.  This trail demonstrates the great diversity of Big Bend National Park.
