Comments: Cooper Lake State Park South Sulphur Unit 10/21/06 Richard, Stephanie, Riley, Jacob, Maggie Enter Trailhead: 2:40pm Exit Trailhead: 3:15pm Approx Distance: 5 miles per park data Approx 13 other hikers, two dogs Cool day, jeans, no sweaters, kids still wearing soccer uniforms We had soccer games from 9-11:30 then traveled to a family reunion. On the way home we stopped at the Cooper Lake State Park / South Sulphur Unit. It had rained 4 inches about 6 days earlier, ground still wet in low spots. We had picked up a trail guide map at the park office, nice to have but was missing some landmarks, and I'm not sure about the scale. It said the trail takes 3-4 hours, we did it in less than two. Carried two small bottles of water for everyone. Maggie started off in the lead and screamed when she found a snake in the trail, a small dark brown or black snake with a white ring around its neck. Saw plenty of deer tracks.
